1. About the thickness of the high profile composite decking


High profile composite decking was invented in Europe in the 1980s. At the beginning, the specification was 6mm thick. Now European flooring is still based on 6mm, 7mm, and 8mm.

The formaldehyde in high profile composite decking is mainly derived from the glue in the base material. We assume that there are two floors of the same density. The glue content of the 12mm floor must be greater than the glue content of the 8mm floor. Therefore, in a geothermal environment, the formaldehyde emission of an 8mm floor will be lower than that of a 12mm floor for a floor of the same density.


  • The difference in foot feel. There is no difference in foot feel between the two under the same product quality. If you go to the specialty store or the exhibition hall, try to see if you can distinguish between the 8mm floor and the 12mm floor unconsciously.


2. What is the general thickness of the high profile composite decking?


The optimal thickness is completely determined by the board width and the thickness of the semi-finished substrate of the usual specifications. In theory, the wider the floor, the thicker it is.
